St. Gerard Parish has many musical ensembles and ministries. Please take a moment to learn more about them. If you have any questions, or are interesting in joining one of these groups, please contact Olivia Vargas.
Recognizing the challenge families go through when losing a loved one, the Resurrection Choir serves as a volunteer ministry and provides music at all funerals. This choir sings the parts of the liturgy and hymns at all funeral masses at St. Gerard.
The Handbell Choir rehearses on Thursday evenings from 6-6:45pm in the sanctuary. A basic level of music reading ability is required to join the handbell choir. This ensemble rings on the 3rd Sunday of every month and also the Christmas Eve Midnight Mass and Easter Vigil.
St. Gerard Parish has an excellent group of Cantors who volunteer their time and energy to lead the congregation in song. The cantor functions as the singer and leader of congregational song. Frequently, the cantor at each weekend liturgy acts as the Psalmist as well. If you are interested in serving as a Cantor at St. Gerard Parish, please contact Olivia Vargas to schedule an audition.
St. Gerard is always looking to recruit interested instrumentalists to provide additional support for weekend services. This may include accompanying hymns and performing selected solos during the liturgy. The specific schedule can be flexible to suit the needs of the instrumentalist.
The group of musicians that provide music at the 6 PM service are the "Alive" music ministry. This group provides a contemporary yet prayerful sound in all their music. Typically, these musicians include piano, guitar, drums, and other instruments as well as multiple voices. This group is primarily comprised of professional musicians, however, from time to time there may be openings to join.
During the school year, children at the St. Gerard School are invited to sing with the St. Gerard Children's Choir. This group typically sings at the 9:00 mass the first Sunday of each month beginning in November. The choir also sings at 4:30pm Christmas Eve and 11am on Easter Sunday. For more information on this ministry, please contact Olivia Vargas.
