Today on this First Sunday of Advent, we will discuss the Season of Advent, and our Liturgical Year overall. We will also introduce the first part of Mass (Liturgy of the Word). Toward the end of class we will talk about the next step in RCIA: The Rite of Acceptance and Welcome. ALSO TODAY: sponsor/godparent meeting in the Conference Room. They will join us in class after their meeting. Snacks and refreshments are provided at both sites.
The Rite of Acceptance/Welcome is a ceremony during Mass that signifies your desire to continue forward on the RCIA Journey toward Baptism/Confirmation in the Catholic Church. From this point on, Scripture and Mass will become a more integral part of the RCIA process week to week. After Mass today, we will enjoy breakfast prepared for us by the Knights of Columbus in the Parish Hall.
Check in at the RCIA room prior to 9am Mass, then head to Mass. After the homily, you will be dismissed back to the RCIA room for discussion of the scripture of the day. Then our short class will begin when Mass is finished. Today's discussion will be all about the Sacraments. What are they? Why do we have them? ...and more! Snacks and refreshments are provided.
