As we reflect on the journey of the Magi to the Christ child, we are invited to reflect on our own journey to Christ. The Magi seem to have had wealth, status, and position, everything anyone could seemingly ever want. Yet they did not have what they most wanted, i.e. something or someone to satisfy their deepest hunger for meaning, life, fulfillment. They invested everything to satisfy their hunger, and they found Christ.
How much are you willing to invest in the satisfaction of your deepest hunger? Will you dedicate even some of your time and energy to the quest? There are many bright lights vying for our attention. Don’t be distracted by the lights that promise the world but can deliver none of what you want most. Follow the light that leads to Christ.
