March 9, 2014On Ash Wednesday (March 5) I was edified and moved at the number of people who attended Mass. We offered four Masses at St. Gerard Parish that day, and we estimate that almost 2,500 people were present. What a testimony to their recognition of their need for God and his mercy.
Lent is a time of special grace. We are invited to renew our embrace of the Lord Jesus and the way of life he calls us to. He promised new and eternal life to all who believe in him and walk in his ways. It can be difficult, sometimes painful, to face our infidelities and failures. However, the Lord Jesus is always ready to forgive. I pray that this Lent be a time of renewal and new life for us all. Let us honestly face our sins, seek God?s mercy, and renew our commitment to walk in his way.
