Today, Sunday, December 13, 2015, at 2:00 pm, the parishes of the Lansing area will join together for two celebrations of the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Both will take place at 2:00 pm, one at St. Gerard, Lansing and the other at St. Thomas Aquinas, East Lansing. There will be 12-15 priests at each site to assist with the Sacrament of Reconciliation.
The Lansing area celebrations will be held only 5 days after the formal beginning of the Holy Year of Mercy declared by Pope Francis. I hope that, in addition to providing an excellent way of preparing for Christmas, you would consider going to confession as a first response to the Pope’s call for all Catholics to both seek God’s mercy and become agents of God’s mercy.
Remember the words of Pope Francis cited above: God forgives all and God forgives always. Let the love of God wash over you through the forgiveness of your sins. Could there be a better gift to receive in the preparation for the celebration of Christ’s birth?
