The grief support at St. Gerard aims to provide tools, ideas, and creative projects to help individuals move through the grieving process. A dynamic and interactive group, it offers the opportuniy for learning and self-discovery, helping participants to keep the memory of their loved on alive. This program is offered in a safe, faith-filled setting and operates in 6-week sessions each fall and spring.

From the beginning of the parish, the women of St. Gerard began the custom of honoring their deceased sisters in Christ with an honor guard at funeral Masses. Each time a woman from the parish passes away, the family is invited to utilize the honor guard.

Adult servers are needed to assist the priest at the altar during a funeral Mass. Consisting mostly of retirees assist grieving families by providing a liturgical experience that helps them to pray and run smoothly.

On the day of a funeral, the parish hall may be available to grieving families to have a meal for all in attendance. An incredible amount of volunteers staff and serve the luncheon and provide homemade desserts. Call the parish office for more information.

Parishioners meet twice per month to knit or crochet shawls which are then given to people in need of special blessing, thoughts, and prayers. These shawls are an expression of comfort and concern as well as celebrating something joyous.
